Grandpa Red's Mom
A small innocent girl, a very young mother, and an older brother took to the sea in the hulls of a huge ship to venture to a new and hopeful life in America. Their journey started in England, I'm still researching exact location. Her father Thomas Woodward had been in the new country for sometime trying to set up a home and life for his young family. When the crew received word he was ready for them. The young matron, Anne, packed up her young son and 9 month old daughter. They boarded the ship, but not to a comfortable room but to the bottom of the ship with all the rodents, poor and shaky passengers resided. The journey was extremely hard on young Lillian and left her very sick upon arrival in New York. How frieghtened Anne must have been for the life of Lillian and young Thomas. Twenty-four years old with out a clue as to what the world had in store.
